Overview

Porto Petro has a very good name among sailors. The small natural harbor in the southeast of Mallorca is one of the most beautiful anchorages on the island, there are cheap moorings and also a shore leave is always worthwhile.

The sea off Porto Petro is calm, and even though the marina is not too big, it can be easily approached at night.

A stroll through Porto Petro

Before going on a cruise, you should take the opportunity to have a look at Porto Petro harbor. At the harbor there are many small but fine restaurants that have fresh fish in all variations on the menu. If you want to have a good glass of wine after dinner, you should visit one of the nice bodegas. Also worth seeing are the monastery and the pilgrimage church near Felanitx. From there it is not far to the viewing platform and from there the view over the sea and the island is simply fantastic. If you look to the west, you can see the mountains of the Tramuntana range, and to the northeast are the Serra Llevant and Isla Cabrera.

A Caribbean beach

Sailing off Porto Petro is fun because the sea is pleasantly calm, the water depth is more than sufficient and if you don't want to sunbathe on deck, you should head for the bay of Cala Mondragó. Not only is the bay beautifully located, there is also a gorgeous beautiful beach with S'Amarador. The water is crystal clear, the sand of the beach is white and fine like powdered sugar and is in no way inferior to the beaches in the Caribbean.

Porto Petro and therefore also the beach do not belong to the popular tourist destinations on Mallorca. If you are looking for peace and relaxation, you will certainly find it there.

A day trip to Porto Christo

From Porto Petro there are many possibilities for interesting day trips. For example Porto Christo is a nice destination, because the small harbor has kept its typical Majorcan charm. If you sail to Porto Christo, you should also take the opportunity to visit the legendary caves of Drac. The old town with its picturesque architecture is also always worth a visit.
