Yacht charter from professionals

Especially with charter bases abroad, it is important to work with an efficient and reputable agency to ensure that your sailing holiday is a pure pleasure. We can offer you selected yachts from selected charter bases, just as you are used to and just as you wish. We are only satisfied when you give us your high praise after the sailing trip.

We are on the road for you! Our customers know that we know the yachts, bases and owners on offer and only offer them if we are convinced of their quality. We only offer you the yachts we are really convinced of.

Class instead of mass

We refrain from mass presentation of yachts. The range of charter yachts in the Mediterranean is so large that a database could easily contain over 5000 ships.  We consciously refrain from doing so. We strive to offer our customers only those yachts that we ourselves are convinced of.

We want you to have a

  •     wonderful cruise
  •     with a good ship at a
  •     a trustworthy charter base.

We always check our offer against these three criteria!

Port Grimaud - Mittelmeer Yachtcharter

When the cool northern European hears about the Mediterranean, he easily goes into raptures about sun, bathing and good food. This is also true, but with regional differences. Here we will try to give you some hints on the best area for you and your crew.

Climatic conditions of the Mediterranean

When we colloquially speak of a "Mediterranean climate", we usually mean a beautiful summer, mild winters and little rainfall. In climate classification, the Mediterranean climate is described as "Csa", which means: Warm temperate, dry in summer and summer temperatures above 22 degrees Celsius (for at least one month).

Our observations correspond to this classification: there are very hot summers, a pleasant spring and usually "bearable" winters, but also with periods of cold and rain.  This is of course a general observation, individual geographical differences are very pronounced. For example, winters in the Adriatic near the Alps can be called frosty.

Here, too, there are seasonal variations and fluctuations, so it happens time and again that in the northern Mediterranean short periods of rain can be observed in the summer months, but not regularly and only in exceptional years.

The winds in the Mediterranean

When sailors talk about the winds in the Mediterranean, the terms "mistral" and "bora" often come up, depending on the sailing area. It is the "strong" winds that attract attention, not the local and normal winds. Those who sail in summer will hardly experience these strong and well-known wind phenomena, their time is autumn and winter.

The stronger winds

Mistral
Cold wind from the Rhône valley, affects the Côte d'Azur to Corsica and Sardinia
Bora
Cold fall wind on the east coast of the northern Adriatic in Croatia
Tramontana
Gusty wind from the mountains (Italy, France, Spain)

Other well-known winds in the Mediterranean

Meltemi
Pleasant north wind in the Aegean, a summer wind that keeps temperatures bearable and stands for good weather. It usually blows with 4-5 force winds, but can also sometimes "tingle", especially in straits.

Scirocco
A hot wind from the desert, constant and sometimes unbearably warm (nights with up to 35 degrees Celsius and days with 40 degrees Celsius are not uncommon).

The question that every newcomer to the Mediterranean inevitably asks is whether there are also "normal" wind conditions... Of course! Most of the time, moderate winds prevail, depending on the weather conditions. Often there are nice thermals in the summer, which then die away in the evening. The strong winds mentioned are the exception, not the rule. Otherwise, hardly anyone would sail in the Mediterranean if the shrouds were whistling all the time.

Pleasant sailing times in the Mediterranean

The sailing season in the Mediterranean is longer than in the Baltic Sea. Depending on the region, you can sail well into November. The most pleasant months are certainly May, June and September, as the harbours will not be full at that time and the weather is usually splendid.  Depending on the area, July and August can be very hot and the harbours are busy. The further south you go, the longer the season. For example, Turkey and Mallorca are typical and popular destinations for sailors during the autumn holidays.

The sea areas with charter yachts

If you look at the map of the Mediterranean, it becomes clear that the sailing areas differ.  The northern Adriatic and Malta are estimated to be a good thousand kilometres apart.

Our sailing area distinctions are as follows:
Northern Adriatic

The sailing area of the northern Adriatic is easily accessible by car. The core area for charter yachts is Istria in Croatia. Many charter ships are based here, and the infrastructure is perfect.  The largest fleet of sailing yachts is in Pula in the Marina Veruda. As a rule, you will find moderate wind conditions, although bora can occur in autumn and spring. It does not come as a surprise, however, but is announced in good time. Then it is better to stay in the harbour.

There are fewer charter bases in Italy, but all the more charter yachts in Slovenia and for yacht charter Croatia.

Our assessment of the area: beautiful landscape, lots of culture, good Italian cuisine.
Dalmatia and the Kornati Islands

If you look at sailing pictures from Croatia, you will inevitably find pictures from Dalmatia. The island world of Kornati, over 1000 islands, is a very impressive experience. Even from the aeroplane on the approach to Split, you can't help but be amazed. Wonderful. As a sailing area, it is accordingly popular.  The wind conditions are moderate, the bora is not as strong here, the water is warm and the food is usually good.

Our opinion: seaside holiday, beautiful bays, family-friendly

Lovely Ionian Sea

Greece is divided into two parts in terms of wind: There is the windy Aegean and the temperate Ionian Sea with the well-known islands of Corfu, Lefkas and Kefalonia. The Ionian Sea, i.e. the sea area at the exit of the Adriatic Sea to the west of Greece and east of Italy, is considered one of the most family-friendly areas. There are hardly any strong winds here, the average air temperatures are higher than in the northern Adriatic and the water quickly reaches a pleasant bathing temperature.

Our opinion about the sea area: Bathing holiday, sunburn risk, very family-friendly
Aegean Sea - wind guaranteed

An area with wind guarantee, so they say. Depending on the route chosen, it can be demanding sailing or a relaxed cruise with many bathing bays. The Saronic Gulf is considered moderate in terms of wind, while the Cyclades are in the Meltemi belt, where stronger winds are to be expected.

The sea area around the Peloponnese is considered rather calm the further you get into the Ionian Sea.  The Saronic Gulf southwest of Athens is rather calm, with moderate winds and good sailing conditions.

Our opinion: have fun sailing! Here it is nice and fast, the sailor's heart is happy. And it is also warm.

Tuscany, Elba, Amalfi Coast

It takes 8 hours to get there from Munich. A short trip over the Alps and you're in Bella Italia!  You would think that the Italian boot would have the largest number of ports and therefore charter bases, but this is not the case. Almost the entire Italian Adriatic coast is "no man's land" in terms of sailing. Near Rimini, for example, there is the typical division of the coast: beach-railway-street-suncream-hotels. Harbours are scarce on the Adriatic side and therefore there are no charter yachts there.

The other side, the Tuscan side, is all the more beautiful. There are lots of beautiful harbours and marinas, a chic landscape and you can sail to very varied destinations. The wind is not very strong in the summer months when it is there, the water is warm and the food is Italian - incredibly good.

The main area is the Tuscan archipelago, with Elba as the main island and then the chain of islands off the coast, ending with the island of Giglio, unfortunately famous for the cruise ship that was wrecked there.  The normal sailor will hardly have any difficulties in hitting the harbour or sailing past the islands; navigationally, the sea area is not very exciting. The journey here can easily be made by car, as mentioned before, from Munich 8 hours. And after the Brenner Pass, the holiday begins.

Our opinion of the sailing area: good food, easy navigation, few strong winds, bathing holiday

Southern Italy and Sicily

Calabria, Sicily...wasn't there something? That's right.  But as a tourist you won't notice anything about it. The author once left his wallet on the saddle of his motorbike in Palermo and went to the café. Half an hour later, the wallet was still there. In the middle of Palermo.

The sailing area between Tropea/Calabria, Sicily and the Lipari Islands is one of the hottest spots. Not because of the water and air temperatures, which are certainly high, no, there are still many active volcanoes there that provide a bizarrely beautiful spectacle. If you watch the sunset from Tropea, there is a wonderful sight: The sun sets directly behind the smoking Stromboli! A strangely beautiful sight.

The typical sailing routes also run from Sicily and Calabria through the Lipari archipelago, a truly amazing island world of volcanoes. In the harbour of Lipari, by the way, you can enjoy excellent grilled fish, a cool white wine and air temperatures of 25 degrees in the evening, if that's not a dream.

Our opinion: hot sailing area, bathing and good food!
Sardinia Sailing Destination

Sardinia is in a league of its own when it comes to sailing areas. Whereas St. Tropez and Co. in France used to be the destination of the rich and famous, the Costa Smeralda now plays a similar role. This leads to mooring fees in Porto Cervo of up to 380 EUR per day in the high season for 40 feet (approx. 12 metres). A bargain, then.

But this fuss is not Sardinia! This is only a tiny slice of reality. If you sail along the Costa Smeralda into the Maddalena archipelago and over to Bonifacio, you can take a look at Porto Cervo and wonder why it's so expensive, but you don't have to moor there. The sailing area is characterised by many small bays and turquoise water, very Caribbean!

The wind conditions on Sardinia are moderate in the summer months, but it can blow in the early and late season. Sardinia and Corsica are still in the catchment area of the cool and unpleasant Mistral from the Rhône valley. The only advantage of the mistral is the clarity of the air and the purity of the colours. Otherwise, it is an unloved companion.  But as mentioned before, it tends to blow in winter and late autumn.

In general, Sardinia has a very friendly and pleasant climate for sailors.
Charter bases in Sardinia
Our conclusion: family-friendly, impressive nature, high VIP-rate in some ports (but you can easily avoid it).
South of France

Côte d'Azur - just hearing the name makes your head spin. Starring Grace Kelly, both as the Princess of Monaco and in her role as an actress in "Over the Roofs of Nice". Madness. The French Mediterranean coast is the symbol of the glamorous summer holiday, here you are who, here you are seen and here you see who. However, this glamorous glamour or, for many, horror, is only a small part of the coast. There is also a very large "normal" world here.

From the border with Liguria to St. Tropez, you'll find the sophisticated chic, but also quiet bays and beautiful beaches. Just before Marseille, there is the fascinating coast of the "Calanques", rocky bays with crystal-clear water. The harbour towns have of course become more touristy, that's just obvious, but it doesn't necessarily have to be negative. You can find excellent restaurants and many small cafés, and the boutiques are popular with the female crew members. After all, you are a tourist too.
Charter Yachts in the South of France
Conclusion: excellent food, beautiful landscape, beach holiday
Balearic Islands

Since almost every German has been to Mallorca at least once, charter companies don't have to explain much. It's quite simple: you fly there from the cold north, you take over your ship sweating because it's too hot for the first day, and you either sail around the island in six days or you stroll the bays. You get sunburnt on the second day, then it gets better. The anchorages are full in high season, but you'll still find a spot. With the dinghy you go to the beach to the restaurant. Bathing in the morning, then sailing, then bay and restaurant again. Life can be so simple.

Ibiza is completely different: it's a little flatter, but otherwise it has just as beautiful bays. And far more discos on the beach. Otherwise, the same applies here: bathing in the morning, sailing, anchorage and restaurant. And then maybe disco, depending on your mood.
Yacht Charter Mallorca
Conclusion: Good food, beautiful islands, seaside holiday, family-friendly.
